The pointing beneath the letters came later. Underneath it lies the consonantal frame — the text as a scribe cut it, each symbol a picture and a number at once. You still do not need fluency, only patience and a slow eye; and by the last lesson you will know the sevenfold fold itself, well enough to open any album’s Derivation tab and follow every line of it.
Vowel points and cantillation marks are a later layer, laid over an older one. Learning to see through them is the whole first step.
